Examer AI ("we," "our," or "us") is an AI-powered educational mobile application designed to help Indian students prepare for board examinations including CBSE, Bihar Board, and other state boards. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Examer AI mobile application (the "App") available on Google Play Store.

By downloading, installing, or using Examer AI, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use our App.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Information You Provide Directly

• Account Information: Name, email address, class/grade, board (CBSE/Bihar Board/other), and preferred language (Hindi/Hinglish/English) when you create an account.
• Academic Preferences: Selected subjects, chapters, and study preferences you configure within the App.
• User-Generated Content: Questions you type into the AI doubt solver, quiz responses, and study notes.
• Camera Input: Photos of questions captured using the Camera Doubt Scanner feature. These images are processed for text extraction and are not stored permanently on our servers.
• Feedback & Support: Messages, ratings, and feedback you submit through in-app support channels.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

• Device Information: Device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers, and app version.
• Usage Data: Features used, quiz scores, study duration, chapters accessed, and interaction patterns within the App.
• Performance Data: Crash logs, error reports, and app performance metrics to improve stability.

2.3 Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect location data (GPS).
• We do not access your contacts, call logs, or SMS.
• We do not collect financial or payment card information directly. All payments are processed by Razorpay.
• We do not collect biometric data.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

• Provide Core Features: Generate AI-predicted VVI questions, adaptive quizzes, quick revision notes, and chapter weightage analysis personalized to your board and subjects.
• Camera Doubt Solving: Process images captured via Camera Doubt Scanner to extract questions and generate AI-powered solutions.
• Track Academic Progress: Display quiz scores, IQ ratings, study streaks, and performance analytics on your dashboard.
• Improve the App: Analyze usage patterns and crash reports to fix bugs, improve performance, and develop new features.
• Communication: Send exam reminders, VVI updates, and important app notifications (you can opt out at any time).
• Customer Support: Respond to your queries, feedback, and support requests.

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (cloud database infrastructure) with the following security measures:

• All data transmission is encrypted using TLS/SSL (HTTPS).
• Database access is protected with Row Level Security (RLS) policies.
• API keys and sensitive credentials are stored as environment variables, never in source code.
• User passwords are hashed using industry-standard cryptographic algorithms.
• Regular security audits and updates are performed.

While we implement commercially reasonable security measures, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

5. Third-Party Services

Examer AI integrates with the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

6. Camera & Device Permissions

Examer AI requests the following device permissions:

• Camera (Optional): Used exclusively for the Camera Doubt Scanner feature. You can photograph a question and get an AI-generated solution. Camera images are processed in real-time and are not stored permanently on our servers. You can use the App fully without granting camera access.
• Internet Access (Required): Required to communicate with our AI servers, fetch study content, and sync your progress.
• Notifications (Optional): For exam reminders, VVI updates, and study tips. You can disable notifications at any time from your device settings.

7. Children's Privacy

Examer AI is designed for students aged 13 years and above. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided personal data to Examer AI, please contact us at examerai26@gmail.com and we will promptly delete such information.

For users between 13–18 years, we recommend parental guidance during account creation and app usage.

8. Data Retention

• Account Data: Retained as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion request.
• Usage & Analytics Data: Retained for up to 12 months for app improvement purposes, then anonymized or deleted.
• Camera Images: Processed in real-time for doubt solving and not stored permanently. Temporary processing data is deleted within 24 hours.
• Support Conversations: Retained for up to 6 months after resolution for quality assurance.

9. Your Rights

Under applicable Indian data protection laws (Information Technology Act, 2000 and IT Rules, 2011), you have the following rights:

• Right to Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Right to Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
• Right to Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data.
• Right to Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent for data processing at any time by deleting your account.
• Right to Opt-Out: Opt out of promotional communications at any time.

10. Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data by:

• Going to Settings → Account → Delete Account within the App.
• Sending an email to examerai26@gmail.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request."

Upon receiving your request, we will delete your personal data within 30 days. Some anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytics purposes and cannot be linked back to you.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will:

• Update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page.
• Notify you through an in-app notification or email.
• Require re-acceptance of the updated policy for continued use.
